Which widgets appear on the dashboard is decided per person, not per dealership: your access decides which widgets exist for you, one widget needs a recall subscription before it appears at all, each person can switch between the new dashboard and the classic one for themselves, and widgets can only be dragged at desktop width. This article covers all four.
Questions this answers
- "One of my managers opens the dashboard and a couple of the widgets are just empty for her, while they show numbers for me. Is her dashboard broken?"
- "The Recall Status widget isn't on my dashboard at all and I can't add it from the widget list. What turns that one on?"
- "I turned on the new dashboard for the whole dealership, but a couple of my employees say they're still seeing the old one. What's going on?"
- "I rearranged my dashboard on my laptop but on my tablet everything is back in the old order and I can't drag anything. Did my layout not save?"

A widget shows nothing, or isn't there at all, for one person
Every widget is tied to the same access as the full screen it summarises. Someone who cannot open the inventory list does not get inventory numbers on the dashboard; someone without access to vehicle cost does not get the cost figure. The dashboard does not show an access-denied message for this — the widget is simply not built for that person, and it is also removed from their saved arrangement, so it cannot be added back from the widget list either.
Her dashboard is not broken. To give her those widgets, give her access to the matching screen in her role — the widget follows automatically. There is no separate per-widget permission to switch on.
The Recall Status widget isn't available
The Recall Status widget only exists for lots in the United States with active recall monitoring. Without that subscription the widget is hidden completely rather than shown empty, and it does not appear in the list of widgets you can add.
This is deliberate. With no recall data behind it the widget would always read as though there were no open recalls, which is a misleading thing to show about compliance. If you want it, the recall monitoring subscription is what turns it on.
Some staff still see the old dashboard
There are two separate switches, and the personal one wins.
- A dealership-wide setting decides which dashboard people get by default.
- Each person can override that for themselves — moving to the new one from the Try it now banner on the old dashboard, or going back with Classic view on the new one.
Once someone has made that choice it sticks for them and the dealership-wide default no longer applies to them. So an employee still on the old dashboard has almost certainly chosen Classic view at some point. Ask them to use Try it now; nothing you change centrally will move them.
Rearranging works on a laptop but not a tablet
Dragging and resizing widgets is only available at full desktop width. On a narrower screen you can still hide widgets, show them, and add them — but not drag or resize them.
Your layout did save. What you are seeing on the tablet is a narrow-screen arrangement worked out from your desktop layout, and that narrow arrangement is never saved in its own right. Arrange the dashboard the way you want it on a desktop screen; the tablet and phone views follow from it.
