The DeskManager data transfer tool is intended for a one-time use. Subsequent data transfers will overwrite any changes made in DeskManager Online.
If you’re migrating from DeskManager 11 to DeskManager Online, you’ll want to bring your data with you. Whenever you’re ready, you can perform this data transfer on your own through our built-in data transfer tool.
Best of all, DeskManager 11 will function as normal during the data transfer, so you won’t experience any downtime or performance slowdowns.
Once you complete the data transfer and start using DeskManager Online in earnest, you should not perform another data transfer. Doing so may put your existing data at risk.
If you export a deal that already exists in DeskManager Online, the deal will be overwritten. For example, if you collect a payment on a deal in DeskManager Online and export the same deal from DeskManager 11 that does not have this payment recorded, the payment will be lost.
Three export functions are available, which are outlined below. Depending on your needs, you may want to use one or all three export functions.
Export Selected Records
This export function will transfer everything you currently have selected in DeskManager 11. You'll use this transfer function if you want to send historical records to DeskManager Online.
To do so, visit the Deal/Trade tab. In the Advanced Search tool to the left, edit the filters to determine which historical records you’d like to transfer. If you want to transfer all records, you’ll remove all filters, then click Search.
Then go to Edit in the top-left and click Tag All. This will select every deal currently shown in your Deal/Trade menu.
Now navigate to File > Import/Export > Export to DeskManager Online and click Export Selected Records.
When you select this function, a small window may appear. It is highly recommended that you check the box to Exclude Documents even if your deals or vehicles have documents attached. Otherwise, transferring documents dramatically increases the time needed to transfer.
Once you’re happy with your document export setting, click Export.
Export Available Inventory and Open Deals
This export function will transfer everything in your available inventory, as well as any open deals. Open deals are deals that have been marked as sold but have not yet been closed. These may come in the form of active BHPH accounts and retail-financed deals awaiting lender payment.
To use this export function, navigate to File > Import/Export > Export to DeskManager Online and click Export Available Inventory and Open Deals.
You can watch the export process in real time. In the bottom-right corner of your screen, a small bar will dictate which stock number is currently being transferred to DeskManager Online. You’ll know when the transfer has completed as the bar will disappear.

Export Local Forms
This export function will transfer any local or custom forms you currently have in DeskManager 11.
You may want to consider cleaning up local forms you no longer use before transferring them to DeskManager Online.
When you’re ready to export your local forms, navigate to File > Import/Export > Export to DeskManager Online and click Export Local Forms.
When these forms transfer to DeskManager Online, they’ll be accessible under the Company Forms category in the print menu.
