This article is for DeskManager 11. For DeskManager Online see Reports & Charts.
This article will walk you through how to create custom reports from DeskManager.
At the top click Reports, a reports window will open. Double click Report Builder and a new window will open.
To create a custom report, click New in the top left, a report builder window will open
Enter the report title, then set the report type from the dropdown menu.
In the list below you can select the fields to be included in the report.
- If you cannot find the desired fields, click the button to the right with an image of binoculars that says Search Field and a new window will open for you to enter the text of the desired field to search
- Once all the fields are selected, click Save in the top right of the window and the window will close.
- The Report Builder will now show the custom report by the Title it was given.
Once a custom report has been built, you can open one by double-clicking on it.
You can use the Filter option to filter the results based on the criteria that you choose when running the report.
You can also customize the appearance of the printouts by changing the widths of the columns and changing the font size. Click on the View button to adjust the font size for the printouts.
To add or remove displayed fields into an existing custom report, highlight the selected report and click Open.
DeskManager has the ability to export your custom reports as either a text file or a Comma-separated Values (CSV) file which can be opened in Microsoft Excel or imported into third party software that supports the CSV file format.
To export a report, click the Options button, then click Export. Create a name for the exported file, and then select the path for the exported file's destination.
Select the delimiter for the file, which determines the formatting. For example, a tab-delimited file will export as a standard Notepad .txt file. There are two forms of CSV files that can be exported: with no text qualifier and with a text qualifier.
Click on Export to export the report.
Once exported, you will be prompted to view the file. Because the CSV file format is text-based, Windows will default to opening the file in Notepad. You can save this file to another location on your computer and open it within Microsoft Excel and other third party software.
There is also an option to export the resulting report via FTP. Please refer to the help article Creating and Exporting Custom Reports Via FTP for a description on how to enter the FTP credentials that were provided by the third-party.
