Gmail has increased their security standards. The Less Secured Apps setting has been depreciated and will no longer allow DeskManager 11 or DeskManager Online to access the Gmail account. Instead, a Gmail application password must be created.
This article will be broken up into the following sections:
Configuring an App Password
Have the client log into their Gmail account.
Click the client's initials in the top-right and select "Manage your Google Account."
Then in the top-left, click Security.
Under the Signing in to Google section, enable 2-factor authentication if it is not already enabled. This is mandatory for creating an app password. Explain to the client what 2-factor authentication is and that Gmail will not allow DeskManager 11 or DeskManager Online to email through their account without 2-factor authentication enabled for security reasons.
Click on 2 Step Verification again.
Click App Passwords at the bottom of the screen.
Under "Select the app and device you want to generate the app password for" choose Mail then choose Other (Custom name).
Enter DeskMan as the name then click Generate.
Copy the Gmail password created for DeskMan. The client will not need to explicitly remember this password.
